<aside> 👋🏾 Hello, and thank you for getting the Sunny Book Library.

If you have not done already, you need to first sign up for Notion. Afterwards, you see a button at the top right corner of this page saying “Duplicate”. This will add this template into your own Notion workspace. Once done, go ahead reading this page.

For you to get started, I prepared this overview to set up your new library and understand how Notion works.

However, if you want additional help with Notion and setting it up as your complete project management system, I highly recommend their guides https://www.notion.so/help/guides. Otherwise, you can also send me an email with any questions ([email protected]).

Let’s get started with your new Sunny Book Library, so you can better organise your books and notes about them.

  1. Add your books

First, a bit of background on how Notion works:

Notion’s main feature is databases, which are also the basis of this library workspace. Below, you can find a database called “All books”. This is the core of your library.

Within a database, you can create entries - one entry per book. I already added a few for you to get started. You can open these entries and add your notes about the book into the prepared database, as well as images, tables, links, pages, whatever you want really.

By clicking on the blue “New” button on the top right of the database or the row at the bottom of the database, you can add a new entry to your database.

Within a database entry, you can see different columns, so-called properties. By filling in these properties, you add more information to your database entries.

Database properties are of different types: Text, Numbers, Select, Date, Checkboxes... We will go through some types throughout this page.

Create a new database entry for a book that you’re currently reading and click on the empty boxes within the columns to fill in the details of your book.

  1. Sort and filter your books according to content, status or authors

By clicking on the + next to the “All books” tab, you can create a new view of your database.
